Lisvane & Llanishen Reservoirs Visitor Centre

Project Details:
Client: Dwr Cymru Cyfyngedig (Welsh Water)
Start Date: January 2022
Completion Date: January 2023
Sector: Leisure
Form of Contract: NEC3 Option A

Project summary:
The development is being carried out at the northern end of the site, and once completed will create a two-story visitor hub with spectacular views across both reservoirs.  The building will hold changing rooms, showers, toilets for watersports, training rooms for the local community use, as well as a cafe where you can sit, relax, and watch water sports or enjoy the landscape.

The building will incorporate features to improve its green credentials and reduce its carbon footprint.  This includes a large solar photovoltaic (PV) installation on the roof, the use of "green" gas which will be generated from Welsh Water's sewerage treatment, a sustainable drainage system with underground drainage space, and a rain garden to attenuate and filter rainwaters.  It will also have a heat recovery ventilation system within the changing rooms and wastewater heat recovery shower trays.
